SPOONER, Wis. (WJMC) — Celebrate June Dairy Month in Spooner this weekend.

The Tri-County Dairy Breakfast is set for Saturday at the Washburn County Fairgrounds in Spooner. They’ll be serving pancakes, maple syrup, honeybutter, sausage, cheese, milk, coffee, strawberries and ice cream from 6:30 until 10:30 a.m. Cost for adults is $7, children age five to twelve, $5, and under age five eat free.

“At the Expedition Hall we have the Cheesy Bread Contest. And then you can go and have a Butter Carving Showdown. You can register 7:30 to 8 a.m. Then we have the Apron Artistry Challenge. You can pick up an apron and decorate it, and then return it for the fair,” Johnson said.

For guidelines on the beer bread, butter carving, and apron contests, check the Washburn County Fair Facebook page. Alice in Dairyland, Halei Heinzel will be in attendance to judge the butter sculptures.

Other activities include a kiddie barn, FFA Alumni silent auction, barrel train rides, antique tractors and music with Tommy Rae. Also, free ice cream cones. New this year, a car show and farmers market.

The fairgrounds are located on the south side of Spooner on Beaver Brook Avenue, off Highway 63.
