SPOONER, Wis. (NWN) – The 72nd Spooner Rodeo is Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
It is a festive year, with lots of great rodeo events, says rodeo committee chairman Bob LeMoine.
“So we’ve got bareback bronc riding, we’ve got the tie-down calf roping. Ladies breakaway roping and that’s kind of growing in popularity so people really like that. Saddle bronc riding, oh man tie-down calf roping, I mean we just got bull riding and steer wrestling and a little bit of everything, team roping, and then of course our all-time favorite the mutton busting every night,” LeMoine said. “This being our 250th anniversary of the nation, the rodeo is always pretty patriotic but this year we’re going to be a little bit more hands on just because of our anniversary. And it’s the 90th year, 90th anniversary of the PRCA and the 72nd anniversary of the Spooner Rodeo so a lot of celebrations there.”
Drill teams perform each night before the rodeo. There is the Exceptional Rodeo on Thursday, Nickle Scramble for Kids on Friday and Saturday, and the parade and the barbeque on Saturday. Music follows the rodeo each night. For tickets and schedule information, visit Spooner Rodeo dot com.
