EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WRN) — A Wisconsin congressional candidate wants her incumbent opponent to stop sharing AI deepfake videos of her.

A cease-and-desist letter from legal counsel for Democrat Rebecca Cooke’s campaign specifically points to a video shared by 3rd District Representative Derrick Van Orden on August 4th. That video purports to show Cooke speaking “on the campaign trail” in Eau Claire with former President Biden seated behind her.

The AI version of Cooke has her saying that she wants to “take advantage of as much corruption as possible and give every illegal alien free healthcare,” something she never said. A news release from the Van Orden campaign accuses Cooke of a “full blown temper tantrum.”

Van Orden derided the cease-and-desist letter with another AI generated video on his social media.
