CHETEK, Wis. (WJMC) — Last year the Chetek/Weyerhaeuser golf team made the first ever trip to state. This year they were back again.

Earlier this week the Chetek/Weyerhaeuser boys golf team competed at University Ridge in Madison for the state championship. The Bulldogs finished with a score of 661, ten shots behind state champion Durand-Arkansas and good enough for second place in the eight team field.

The seniors, Conner Hanson, Bryce Kiloren, Connor Buckley, and Aiden Mack, graduate as the most decorated golf team in program history with three consecutive conference championships and regional championships and back-to-back sectional championships and state runners up.

C/W spent most of this season ranked as the top team in division three. Coach Lee Kiloren says that it’s the support of the community that has led to the recent success.

“Sioux Creek golf course, Dallas golf course, Pine Crest incredible supporters of youth golf. Even Turtleback golf course, that’s our other home course and they let us support sectionals and some of the kids work there so all those golf courses that are pro kids are pretty awesome to us,” Kiloren said. “That’s why we are very successful. And all the parents and community that have done so much for us.”
