CUMBERLAND, Wis. (NWN) — A child protective service investigation has led to several children being removed from a home in Cumberland and charges for the adults involved.
Cumberland Police Chief Heather Wolfe said police and Barron County DHHS conducted a welfare check at a residence in the city last Friday after learning of poor living conditions and possible drug use in the home.
Inside, authorities found unsanitary conditions with garbage, spoiled food, human waste and pests, along with suspected drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
The children, infant to five, were left without adult supervision at times. Due to the conditions, the children were removed from the home by social services.
Due to the ages of the children, no names of the adult suspects have been released by authorities at this time.
