MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Don’t get scammed while booking a summer vacation.
Be on the lookout for scammy hotel listings when you’re planning your summer vacation. Lisa Schiller with the Better Business Bureau says criminals are able to make fake websites that look like trusted online booking sites.
“When you click on the link, what happens is you find a website, you see professional photos from what you believe to be the hotel and reasonable pricing, everything looks normal,” Schiller said.
Schiller says the best way to book is to search directly from your favorite booking site, rather than trusting a search engine. Also be sure to use a credit card to get stronger fraud protection if you do run into trouble.
