The Driftless Plowboys at The Park Center
March 29 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The Driftless Plowboys will bring their ear-catching combination of hillbilly pre-country and Hawaiian steel guitar to The Park Center on Saturday, March 29 at 7:00pm. Featuring musicians David Heuring (rhythm guitar and vocals), Christo Ruppenthal (steel guitar, lead guitar, and plectrum jazz banjo), Mark Roeder (fiddle and mandolin), and Forrest Evans (upright bass), this unique quartet brings heart, humor and rootsy flavor to all of their performances.
During the 1920s and ’30s, when Hawaiian was the craze in popular music, hillbilly string bands and blues musicians infused their tunes with the exotic glissando of the steel guitar. That’s the heart of The Driftless Plowboys’ repertoire, but they also incorporate the Gypsy Jazz of Django Reinhardt and the Western Swing of Bob Wills, as well as more modern country tunes from the ’40s and ’50s.
Advance tickets are $25 and are available at: Out of the Woods Winery, Hayward; Redbery Books, Cable; The Whistle Punk, Stone Lake, or online at theparkcenter.com. Tickets are $30 at the door and $5 for students (17 and under).
