MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Sarah Godlewski, Wisconsin’s Democratic Secretary of State, is taking a pass on a run for governor and instead launching a bid for lieutenant governor.

Godlewski says she’s not just running for office because she needs another title.

“I’m running for this office because I want to be a part of the team that’s not only going to win, but actually going to deliver for the state of Wisconsin. I’m gonna fight like hell for Wisconsin, and I will tell you I’m ready,” Godlewski said.

Godlewski was elected state treasurer in 2018. She briefly ran for U.S. Senate in 2022. Democratic Governor Tony Evers appointed her as Secretary of State in 2023 following the retirement of Doug La Follette.
