RICE LAKE, Wis. (NWN) — More than five pounds of methamphetamine, worth between 68 thousand and 96 thousand dollars, was recovered in a traffic stop that led to the arrest of two people.
Rice Lake Police said a joint narcotics enforcement detail with the Barron County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a vehicle on Highway 48, east of Cumberland on the evening of August 30. A K-9 sniff detected possible drugs and a search found a large amount of methamphetamine, some marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police said the methamphetamine was sent from California to Barron County.
Arrested were 72-year-old Thomas A. Schuld, of Rice Lake, and 71-year-old Valerie L. Owen, of Haugen. Police said the investigation led to a search warrant at a Rice Lake residence. It recovered additional illegal narcotics, drug using paraphernalia and drug dealing paraphernalia and led to the arrest and an OWI charge for another individual.
Schuld and Owen appeared in Barron County Circuit Court this week.
