RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — Local residents participated in No Kings rallies on Saturday, along with thousands of others held across the nation.

In Hayward, participants estimated more than 500 people in attendance. In Rice Lake, participants counted more than 375. Hillsdale resident Lisa Hinde was at the Rice Lake rally because she was disappointed by the last election and to support women’s rights.

“Big group. It’s not just the active Democrats who do this thing. It’s definitely not paid. I think people see it getting bigger and bigger and that the protests matter because some policies have changed because there was so much more resistance. And it’s very empowering to see people agree with you,” Hind said.

Rice Lake police said other than parking complaints, the event was peaceful.
