MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The Wisconsin State Patrol is reminding motorists to understand the rules when approaching a stopped school bus.

“Wisconsin law requires that a vehicle stops no closer than 20 feet from a stopped school bus when they have their red lights activated. So that includes on any roadway when a school bus is stopped. It does not include a divided highway,” said Sergeant Nic Betts.

This week marks Safe Stop Week, and extra troopers will be out to promote safe driving near school buses.
