WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRN) — The House Homeland Security Committee is holding a hearing Wednesday on impacts of the funding lapse for the Department of Homeland Security.

During a telephone town hall this week, Wisconsin U.S. Senator Ron Johnson said blame rests squarely on Democrats, as they continue to demand changes to how ICE operates. The Oshkosh Republican says he’s voted for previous appropriations bills.

“They want, and quite honestly, radical changes. I mean, there’s no way, I mean, their main demand, which they realize will never be met, is judicial warrants to enforce immigration law,” Johnson said. “I was listening to the ladies on The View saying this is all Republicans’ fault. No, again, Republicans are voting to fund DHS. It’s Democrats that are voting no. But the American public doesn’t see that because of the horribly biased media.”

The acting chief of the Transportation Security Administration told lawmakers Wednesday that more than 480 airport screeners have quit since the DHS shutdown began last month.
