SPOONER, Wis. (NWN) — A 56-year-old man was found dead at a residence northwest of Spooner on Monday, and a 25-year-old man was in police custody.
The Washburn County Sheriff’ Office said officers were called to a residence on County Highway E, near McKenzie Lake, on Monday afternoon for a welfare check on a 56-year-old man. There, they found a 25-year-old man and deputies asked about the older man. Searching the property, the found the victim dead inside the residence with multiple physical wounds.
The 25-year-old man was arrested for suspected homicide and booked in the Washburn County Jail. Formal charges are pending.
Investigators from the sheriff’s office and Wisconsin Department of Justice State Crime Lab are working the case, and an autopsy has been scheduled for the victim.
No names have been released as of early Thursday.
