HAYWARD, Wis. (WJMC) — The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office warns of a sweepstakes scam delivered via mail.
The Sheriff’s Office said a resident received a letter with no return address that claimed the recipient was the second-place winner of a Publishers Clearing House prize worth $2.5 million. It urges the would-be victim to call a number and to not tell anyone about the check to deposit.
Use caution with your personal information and contact law enforcement if you receive any mail that could be fraudulent or a scam.
