(Milwaukee, WI) — The Brewers could clinch a spot in the 2026 playoffs this weekend. Milwaukee’s magic number is three coming into a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds at American Family Field. Dustin May is scheduled to start the opener. Holding a 10-game lead in the National League Central Division with only 15 games to go in the regular season, the Brewers magic number for a division title is seven.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have sent pitcher Brandon Sproat back to Triple-A Nashville after he allowed four runs in the ninth inning of an 8-6 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Sproat pitched a scoreless eighth inning and went back out for the ninth with the Brewers leading 8-1 on Wednesday. He walked four of the five batters he faced in the ninth and had a throwing error and a wild pitch during that stretch. Sproat owns a 3-7 record and 5.57 ERA in 22 appearances. The Brewers had called him up from the minor leagues on Monday.
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers running back Josh Jacobs has entered a no contest plea during a Thursday appearance in Brown County Court. Jacobs told the judge he understands the seriousness of the situation, saying he “takes full responsibility” for his actions. He was convicted on a battery charge, fined a thousand dollars, and reached a deferred judgement agreement on the criminal damage to property charge. He returns to court in a year when that last charge could be dismissed.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kyler Murray’s debut as quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings also marks the first game as Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator for Jonathan Gannon. Murray was cut by the Arizona Cardinals in March after playing his last three seasons there with Gannon as the head coach. He was sidelined by a foot injury in October. The Vikings are counting on Murray to help revive their passing game. The Packers are playing without running back Josh Jacobs and edge rusher Micah Parsons and trying to stop a five-game losing streak including a wild-card round playoff loss.

(Madison, WI) — A victory at Camp Randall Stadium Saturday won’t be enough for the Badgers football team. Wisconsin needs to win, and win big. Oddsmakers see coach Luke Fickell’s squad as a 37-and-a-half-point favorite over Western Illinois. It should happen that way. The visiting Leathernecks give up more than 50 pounds per man along the line of scrimmage. For the Badgers to have a successful season they have to get the ground game going. They managed just 67 yards on 31 rushes in the 41-13 loss to Notre Dame.

(Madison, WI) — Single game tickets for the Wisconsin women’s hockey team are on sale. The Badgers are the defending national champions. All home games went on sale Thursday. Ticket prices range from 15-to-30 dollars in general admission, to 25-to-40 dollars for reserved tickets. The Wisconsin women compiled a 35-4-2 record while earning the program’s nine national title last season.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jonathan Kuminga recognized his on-court fit with the Minnesota Timberwolves and jumped at the chance to join a winning team. Extra efforts and meaningful connections by members of the organization made Kuminga’s decision clear about where to sign — even if he could’ve made more money elsewhere. Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly and basketball operations assistant Alonzo Gee traveled to Miami to meet with the 23-year-old forward this summer. Star guards LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards made regular phone calls to Kuminga, too. He said at his introductory news conference that those genuine conversations were what ultimately sold him on Minnesota.
