(Green Bay, WI) — An Atlanta Falcons offense that had scored just 16 points in the first two games of the season exploded for 35 Thursday night. The Packers couldn’t stop running back Bijan Robinson in their Lambeau Field season opener while losing 35-14. The under-performing Green Bay offensive line got worse, leaving quarterback Jordan Love unprotected and offering no openings to the running game. Atlanta outrushed the Packers 242-to-17, including 194 yards and two scores by Robinson. Coach Matt LaFleur has to find some answers before his team travels to Tampa Bay to meet the Buccaneers October 4th.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Kyler Murray has the right opponent to get back on track after a concussion knocked him out of the season opener. Murray will be under center when the Minnesota Vikings visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The two-time Pro Bowl quarterback faces a defense that made Deshaun Watson look like an elite quarterback last week. The Buccaneers haven’t generated much pressure, can’t tackle and routinely miss coverage assignments. That bodes well for Murray, who watched Carson Wentz fill in and lead Minnesota to two gritty wins. Wentz didn’t turn the ball over and made enough plays, especially in Week 1 when he tossed three touchdown passes against Green Bay.

Matt LaFleur joins Todd Bowles and Shane Steichen on the early-season hot seat for NFL coaches. The Green Bay Packers are off to a 1-2 start following a lackluster performance in a 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in their home opener at Lambeau Field. Since losing Micah Parsons to a torn ACL last December, the Packers are 1-7. The only victory came last week against the New York Jets, who helped give the game away. LaFleur’s offense has struggled without running back Josh Jacobs, who is on the commissioner’s exempt list. Jordan Love has been inconsistent behind a poor offensive line.

(Milwaukee, WI) — The Brewers claimed home field advantage throughout the National League playoffs, by beating Philadelphia Thursday 5-1. That was a franchise-record 100th victory for the 2026 season. Jackson Chourio ripped his 25th home run and lefty J-J Romero got the win in relief. The Phillies still need a win to make it to the playoffs for a fifth straight season. They have three games left. Milwaukee hosts St. Louis in a weekend series to cap the regular season starting with a game tonight (Friday).

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kayla McBride scored 22 points on 6-for-10 shooting from 3-point range as the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx closed the regular season by cruising to a 86-66 victory that pushed the Indiana Fever into sixth place entering the WNBA playoffs. The Lynx played without star point guard Olivia Miles for a second straight game due to a left calf injury and snapped back from a blowout loss to the Fever on the road two days ago. Caitlin Clark scored a season-low two points on 1-for-12 shooting as the Fever fell behind 25-4 late in the first quarter.

(University Park, PA) — The Wisconsin Badgers open Big Ten Conference play at Penn State Saturday. A 4:00 pm kickoff time is set for the 22nd meeting between the two football programs. The Nittany Lions have won 12 of the first 21 contests. Wisconsin hopes to maintain the momentum it has built with a pair of lopsided victories the last two weeks. The Badgers had one of their best offensive showings in last week’s 54-10 blowout of Eastern Michigan.

(Milwaukee, WI) — NBA analysts are criticizing the Bucks for failing to trade veteran center Myles Turner. He carries a huge salary and doesn’t seem to fit the roster as an aging veteran. Bleacher Report calls the signing of Turner to a four-year, 109-million-dollar contract before last season a “complete disaster” for Milwaukee. Turner put up career lows in rebounds, field goal percentage, free-throw percentage, and plus-minus.
