(Williamsport, PA) — The Braves took the final game of a weekend series by edging Milwaukee 4-2 Sunday in the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Brewers had won the first two games at American Family Field. Starter Shane Drohan gave up Atlanta’s first two runs and wound up taking the loss. Jake Bauers knocked in the first run with a single and Luis Lara tripled in Milwaukee’s second run. The Brewers are off today (Monday) and start a series in New York Tuesday, taking on the Mets.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Fernando Tatis Jr. hit two home runs and drove in four runs for the red-hot San Diego Padres, who beat the Minnesota Twins 8-1 for a three-game sweep in a showdown of teams pushing for wild-card spots. Luis Rengifo hit a tiebreaking two-run double with the bases loaded in the sixth and Walker Buehler (8-6) pitched six strong innings for the Padres, who continue to hold the National League’s third wild-card spot. San Diego won for the 11th time in 14 games and for the 21st time in 28.
(Green Bay, WI) — Speedy wide receiver Matthew Golden is showing the Packers he was a good pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Golden snagged a 19-yards touchdown pass in Friday’s 33-13 preseason victory in Denver. Yahoo Sports reports that offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich says he’s “been on fire the last few weeks” of training camp. ESPN reports his technics are much improved as he wins routes. Last year he relied more on pure talent. NFL Insider Albert Breer – after watching team practices – says he expects Golden to outshine teammates Jayden Reed and Christian Watson as Green Bay’s top receiver.
(Madison, WI) — With the end of fall camp, Badgers wide receiver Chris Brooks Junior says he’s seeing big changes in this year’s team, changes for the good. Brooks says improved quarterback play is huge as the season approaches. Wisconsin had some of the worst performance in the country at that position last season. The fifth-year senior says the defense is good, but he and other players on the UW offense are showing they won’t give up. That apparently wasn’t the case last fall.
(Miami, FL) — Milwaukee Bucks assistant Vin Baker is following Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. NBA insiders say Baker formed a close bond with the superstar over the last eight seasons. The Sporting News reports he helped Antetokounmpo develop into a dominant player. Baker was also a four-time NBA All-Star and played for Milwaukee.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Wyndham Clark had reason to feel this was similar to the U.S. Open. He lost a big lead and the crowd was pulling for the other guy, in this case Rory McIlroy. Clark got the same result at the BMW Championship. He didn’t make a birdie until finishing with three in a row for a 70 at Bellerive and a three-shot victory over Patrick Cantlay. Clark now has three wins this year including a major. It was a big day for Cantlay, too. His runner-up finish after three straight birdies to end allows him to advance to the Tour Championship.
LOUDON, N.H. (AP) — Ryan Blaney overcame a major fumble by his pit crew and charged from 17th to first for his second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Team Penske driver led a race-high 115 of 301 laps Sunday and fended off Bubba Wallace by 0.586 seconds. Josh Berry, who is trying to find a ride for the 2027 season, finished a season-best third, the fourth consecutive top 10 for the Wood Brothers Racing driver. The top five was rounded out by Christopher Bell and Ryan Preece, who kept his Chase hopes alive with his first top five this year.
