(East Rutherford, NJ) — The Packers wiped out a 10-point deficit in the last 11 minutes of regulation, then beat the New York Jets in overtime Sunday afternoon 20-17. Rookie Trey Smack’s 26-yard field goal ended a six-game losing streak dating back to last season. It was an ugly game with 14 Green Bay penalties setting the team back 133 yards. Jordan Love connected with Christian Watson and MarShawn Lloyd on scoring passes. Skyy Moore set up one of the scores with a 63-yard punt return. The Packers don’t get much rest – just four days – as they take on the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field Thursday night.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed and right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele were carted off the field on consecutive plays during the game against the New York Jets. Reed has a neck injury and will be hospitalized overnight. Bako-Bewele injured a knee. On the Packers’ second offensive play, Reed caught a short pass from Jordan Love and was hit hard by Demario Davis. Reed went down quickly and was face down on the turf, writhing in pain. After a few minutes, Reed was strapped on a backboard and loaded onto the cart. Bako-Bewele was hurt on the next play.
CHICAGO (AP) — Isaiah Rodgers recovered a fumble and blocked a late field-goal attempt, and the Minnesota Vikings shut down Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears for a 9-3 victory. Aaron Jones rushed for 105 yards as Minnesota improved to 2-0 for the first time since it opened the 2024 season with five consecutive wins. Will Reichard kicked three field goals, including a 39-yarder with 1:09 left. Williams left with a right hamstring injury midway through the fourth quarter, silencing a drenched crowd of 58,914 at Soldier Field. The No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft was 15 for 26 for 138 yards, and he also had five carries for 42 yards. Led by Dallas Turner, Minnesota limited Chicago to 297 total yards.
(Baltimore, MD) — A 3-0 win in Baltimore Sunday night gives the Brewers a sweep of the weekend series and a franchise-record 98 victories on the season. D-L Hall earned his fourth win and Trevor Megill notched save number 29. William Contreras pounded his 18th home run and built his RBI total to 88. The Brewers are off tonight (Monday) then start a series in Philadelphia against the Phillies Tuesday.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Alan Roden hit a three-run homer and drove in a career-high four runs, and Dean Kremer yielded one hit over six stellar innings in the Minnesota Twins’ 8-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Josh Bell had three hits and two RBIs for the Twins, who have won three of five overall after splitting four games at Angel Stadium. Brooks Lee added three hits and scored three runs. Ryan Johnson yielded three runs on seven hits and couldn’t get out of the fifth inning despite striking out six for the AL-worst Angels in the home finale of their 11th consecutive losing season.
(Madison, WI) — For the first quarter and nearly half of the second it looked like the same old Badgers. Then, something clicked and Wisconsin scored 28 straight points to take over Saturday’s nonconference win over Eastern Michigan. When the rain let up coach Luke Fickell’s team had the 54-10 runaway victory the fans had been waiting for. Transfer quarterback Colton Joseph threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns, adding another score while rushing for 46 yards. Tyrell Henry caught a program-record 14 passes for 160 yards and a TD. The defense caused three turnovers. The Badgers will carry that momentum in their first Big Ten game at Penn State next Saturday.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Napheesa Collier scored 23 points, Olivia Miles added 21 and the Minnesota Lynx beat the Connecticut Sun 101-89 to get closer to clinching the top seed in the WNBA playoffs. The Lynx moved within one win or Golden State loss from earning home-court advantage throughout the postseason. A big reason for the Lynx’s success this season has been the play of Miles. She broke the WNBA rookie record for points in a season that was held by Caitlin Clark. Miles got her 770th point on a free throw with 9:31 left in the second quarter. Clark finished with 769 points for Indiana in 2024.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin women’s hockey team has named forward Kelly Gorbatenko as its team captain for the 2026 season. The Badgers are defending national champions after beating Ohio State for the title last season. Gorbachenko was an alternate captain last year. She has skated in 134 games so far in her college career. Goaltender Ava McNaughton, defender Laney Potter, and forward Maggie Scannell will serve as alternate captains.
