(Pittsburgh, PA) — Christian Yelich knocked in the tying and winning runs in the seventh inning Wednesday as the Brewers came from behind to beat Pittsburgh 5-4. Shortstop Cooper Pratt went 2-for-4 as the only Milwaukee hitter with more than one safety. Starter Logan Henderson gave up three runs in five innings of work, then Antonio Senzatela earned his 11th win in relief. Trevor Megill nailed down his 28th save. The Brewers go for the sweep this afternoon (Thursday), tentatively, behind lefty Kyle Harrison.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Luke Keaschall went 3 for 5 and scored from second base on Victor Caratini’s game-ending single in the 13th inning to send the Minnesota Twins past the New York Yankees 5-4. John Schreiber took the hard-luck loss after Yankees relievers got the Twins to ground into inning-ending double plays in the 9th, 10th and 12th innings. The Yankees entered the game with a 3 1/2-game deficit behind AL East leader Tampa Bay. New York star slugger Aaron Judge was pulled for a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning with tightness in his lower leg.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Twins rookie shortstop Kaelen Culpepper has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring that has interrupted his promising debut. Culpepper was hurt Tuesday while running out a double-play groundball in the sixth inning. The Twins recalled rookie infielder Ben Ross from Triple-A St. Paul to fill his active roster spot. Culpepper has a mild strain and could still return with two games left in the regular season. The 2024 first-round draft pick is batting .275 with three homers, 15 runs and 11 RBIs in 31 games.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Producing big plays wasn’t a problem for the Green Bay Packers offense in their season opener. Turning those long gains into points proved much more troublesome. It’s something the Packers must fix as they try to avoid their first 0-2 start in two decades. Green Bay had seven pass completions of at least 20 yards Sunday, but still lost 39-22 to the Minnesota Vikings after scoring only one touchdown on four red zone possessions. The Packers visit the New York Jets on Sunday.

(Green Bay, WI) — There are a few positives to take away from the disappointing loss to the Vikings. The passing game – when Jordan Love had time – clicked for almost 400 yards. And, rookie kicker Trey Smack boomed a 59-yard field on his first try. Smack also had field goals of 43, 26, and 40 yards, although the last one was taken off the scoreboard. His first game was a strong one, with the only negatives a missed extra point and a kickoff that reached the end zone.

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Kyler Murray was well enough to join the Minnesota Vikings for practice on a limited basis to leave open the possibility he could progress through the NFL concussion protocol to play this week at Chicago. The Vikings will be without leading rusher Jordan Mason for at least four weeks with a broken thumb he suffered in the season opener. Murray left that game against Green Bay after an illegal hit to the head at the end of a run. The Vikings prefer to decide their quarterback by Friday. Carson Wentz would play if Murray is not medically cleared in time.

(Madison, WI) — The Badgers are 24-and-a-half-point favorites in their last game before starting the tough Big Ten Conference schedule. Wisconsin will take on Eastern Michigan after splitting its first two games. Then, coach Luke Fickell’s team will face nine conference opponents. The starting time Saturday is set for 11:30 a-m at Camp Randall Stadium. A long trip to Happy Valley, Pennsylvania, follows, where the kickoff against Penn State has been officially announced as 4:00 p-m Central Time.

(Madison, WI) — Wisconsin volleyball outside hitter Grace Egan has suffered a setback as she recovers from a back injury. The senior is a starter who has played in 15 of the Badgers’ first 30 sets. She’s fourth on the team with kills and has a .242 hitting percentage. Sports Illustrated reports that Egan says she has been seen by medical professionals, and they are optimistic she will return to action. No timetable for that has been set. She won’t be playing when her team meets Marquette tonight (Thursday) at home.
