(Biloxi, MS) — No minor league batter has hit more home runs in a single season this century than the 48 Andrew Fischer smoked this year in the Brewers minor leagues. It has been nearly 60 years since any minor leaguer hit more. Fischer is 22 years old. Sports Illustrated reports that he drove in 114 runs between Single-A Wisconsin and Double-A Biloxi, with a .273 average. The former University of Tennessee star is advancing quickly through the Milwaukee system.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Aaron Judge hit a three-run home run that capped a six-run eighth inning, and the New York Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 8-3 on a night they clinched their 61st postseason berth and ninth in 10 seasons. Judge had been 3 for 20 with 11 strikeouts since returning last week after missing 84 games because of a fractured rib. Judge hit a cutter from A.J. Minter 415 feet into the second deck in left field for his 18th home run this season, his first since May 24. His drive came a few minutes before Detroit beat Toronto, clinching a playoff berth for the Yankees.
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers quarterback Jordan Love found himself running for his life in the second half of Sunday’s 39-22 loss to Minnesota. One NFL analyst says that has to change. Dan Orlovsky says if Green Bay’s offensive line doesn’t improve, he is concerned that Love “may not survive” the season. He points to the excellent throws the 27-year-old passer made before the Vikings defensive line took over late in the third period. Clutch Points-dot-com reports that Love finished with 387 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur says he’s open to making changes to an offensive line that had no answers for Minnesota’s furious pass rush during another fourth-quarter collapse. But he noted the importance of settling on a starting five soon to build cohesiveness. Green Bay’s offensive line was a major concern throughout training camp. The offensive line’s failings played a major role in Green Bay blowing a 22-10 lead to continue a habit that haunted the Packers last season. The Packers lost four games last season that they led by at least nine points in the second half.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The inconsistency, inexperience and injuries the Minnesota Vikings endured with their quarterbacks last season dragged down the entire operation. Coach Kevin O’Connell was determined to avoid a repeat by improving the running game and strengthening the depth chart at the most vital position. Bringing in Kyler Murray to compete with J.J. McCarthy was one move. Bringing back Carson Wentz was the other. Wentz was named the backup over McCarthy, and he stepped in and helped the Vikings rally past Green Bay in their opener after Murray was sidelined by a concussion in the first quarter.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray began the week in the NFL concussion protocol in continuing his recovery from an illegal hit to the head that forced him out of his first game with the team in the first quarter. Murray arrived on Monday at Vikings headquarters “feeling pretty good,” according to coach Kevin O’Connell. It was too soon for the team to assess his chance of playing the next game at Chicago. Murray’s debut lasted 11 plays. He was hit on the right side of his helmet by Green Bay safety Javon Bullard’s lowered shoulder.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks have been trying to obtain Andrew Wiggins for the last few years, but Nick Ament could prove to be the next best thing. Wiggins is a level-three scorer who adds lockdown defense. Ament, who came to Milwaukee in the 2026 NBA Draft, has shown he could possibly be that kind of professional. Ament is four inches taller than Wiggins but might need to put on some weight. Behind the Buck Pass-dot-com points out that he needs to improve his perimeter shooting.
(Madison, WI) — The official game time for the Wisconsin-Penn State game has been set for 4:00 p-m Central Time. That contest in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania, will be the first Big Ten Conference game for the Badgers. The September 26th game will be homecoming for the Nittany Lions. Wisconsin takes on Eastern Michigan Saturday first, but Penn State will be the first big test for coach Luke Fickell and his team since the opening game loss to Notre Dame.
