MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Byron Buxton homered twice and Mick Abel pitched seven sharp innings as the Minnesota Twins beat the Boston Red Sox 6-0. Buxton had four hits and scored four runs, while Brooks Lee also homered for the Twins. Minnesota has won eight of nine. Abel, who was acquired from the Phillies at last year’s trade deadline for closer Jhoan Duran, allowed four hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out a career-high 10. Red Sox starter Sonny Gray gave up five runs on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout over four innings.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran directed an obscene gesture toward a fan at Target Field as he returned to the dugout after a fifth-inning groundout in Boston’s 6-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Duran has spoken about his past struggles with mental health, and he says the fan told him to kill himself. Duran says he “shouldn’t react like that” but he called the fan’s comment “triggering.” Duran discussed bouts with severe depression and a suicide attempt in a Netflix series that debuted last year.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Hunter Haight got his first career goal and rookie Jesper Wallstedt auditioned for action in the playoffs with 35 saves as the Minnesota Wild finished their regular season by beating the Anaheim Ducks 3-2. Danila Yurov and Robby Fabbri also scored as the playoffs-bound Wild beat the Ducks for the 21st time in the last 22 meetings. Wallstedt is second in the NHL in save percentage and went 18-9-6 in his debut. Mason McTavish scored twice as the Ducks lost their chance to win the Pacific Division. They have clinched their first spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs since 2018.

(Milwaukee, WI) — Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma has apologized to the fans for the franchise’s first losing record in a decade. A day after the season ended, Kuzma posted on Instagram: “Sorry we underachieved. Until October.” He thanked the team’s “amazing fans. Kuzma is under contract for next season, then becomes a free agent in 2027.

(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers’ annual Tailgate Tour is on the road through Saturday, making stops at community centers, schools, and businesses. Riding the bus this time are former Packers Desmond Bishop, Randall Cobb, and Brandon Jackson – along with current players Edgerrin Cooper and Evan Williams. The tour started Tuesday and continues through Saturday. Team President Ed Policy says the tour is a unique tradition and there’s “nothing like this” in the NFL.

(Madison, WI) — Wisconsin football coach Luke Fickell says he wants to see his team’s offense increase the intensity. The Badgers held their eighth practice of the spring Tuesday at Camp Randall Stadium. Fickell says he just felt his offensive players were “a little bit lax.” Sophomore linebacker Cooper Catalano was singled out for the improvement he made in pass coverage. He broke up two passes.
Brynn Kraczek of Rice Lake, attending Cameron school, has qualified for the USA Gymnastics National Competition. Kraczek will compete against 27 other qualifiers April 30th through May 3rd in Boise, Idaho.
