(Milwaukee, WI) — Brewers second baseman Brice Turang is about to get a bonus check that is bigger than his paycheck for the 2025 season. Turang will be paid 1-point-1 million dollars from Major League Baseball’s pre-arbitration bonus pool. His salary for the season was 760 thousand dollars. The 50-million-dollar bonus pool is funded by the 30 teams. Players who are finalists for the various season-ending awards qualify. MLB uses the Wins Above Replacement calculus to determine how much they get. Caleb Durbin will also get a bonus bigger than his paycheck.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The transition to Jesper Wallstedt as the backup to Filip Gustavsson has gone better than even the Minnesota Wild could have envisioned this season. Wallstedt has a league-leading three shutouts over his last four starts while playing like he’s ready to be an equal part of an all-Swedish goaltending tandem on a team contending for the playoffs rather than just a rookie easing into action. Gustavsson signed a five-year, $34 million contract extension near the end of training camp. He became the clear No. 1 goalie last season as Marc-Andre Fleury wound down his career.
