(Philadelphia, PA) — The Philadelphia Phillies broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday night. A double by Brandon Marsh was the big blow in a 6-4 Phillies victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Colton Gordon pitched five innings in relief and took the loss. Catcher William Contreras continued his hot hitting with three runs batted in. Logan Henderson gets the start tonight (Wednesday) in the second game of the series.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Minnesota’s Taj Bradley held the Giants to a run on three hits in six innings and the Twins knocked off San Francisco 3-2 on Tuesday night. Bradley (12-6) struck out Drew Gilbert leading off the first for his 200th strikeout of the season. He became the ninth pitcher in the majors to reach the 200-strikeout plateau in 2026 and finished Tuesday’s game with six K’s, giving him 205 for the year. Jeff Hoffman struck out Victor Bericoto swinging on a 3-2 slider to earn his sixth save.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Caitlin Clark had 27 points and nine assists while Kelsey Mitchell added 20 points to her WNBA single-season scoring record as the Indiana Fever beat the Minnesota Lynx 96-77. Indiana kept alive its faint hopes of earning the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and home-court advantage in the first round for at least one more day. The Lynx still clinched the No. 1 seed thanks to Golden State’s overtime loss to Portland on Tuesday. Mitchell extended her league record to 27 consecutive games. The Lynx played without Olivia Miles because of a calf injury.
(University Park, PA) — The Badgers will have senior running back Abu Sama the Third back in the lineup Saturday for the Big Ten Conference opener at Penn State. Playing without him against Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin was able to score big in a 54-10 victory without much of a running game. Sama is returning from a shoulder injury. So far this season the transfer from Iowa State has rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown, averaging almost seven yards a carry.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers will be missing two important players when they take on the Atlanta Falcons in Thursday Night Football. Wide receiver Jayden Reed and offensive tackle Zach Bako-Bewele were knocked out of the action on back-to-back plays against the Jets. NBC Sports reports that a knee injury will end the season for Bako-Bewele, a devastating blow for Green Bay’s struggling offensive line. Coach Matt LaFleur says it’s “too early” to speculate whether Reed can return his season.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Star power will be lacking in the Milwaukee Bucks’ lineup this season. ESPN’s ranking of all NBA players has been released. Wisconsin native Tyler Herro checks in at number 71. No Bucks are in the top 70. For the last few years, Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has consistently been ranked in the top five. It will be difficult to replace his production, but the superstar missed more than half of his team’s games last year.
