GRANTSBURG, Wis. (WJMC) — Two people were killed and three children seriously injured in a head-on collision in Burnett County on Sunday morning.

Sheriff Tracy Finch said a Toyota van was driving south on Highway 48/87, south of Grantsburg, just after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. At a curve in the road, the van went onto the shoulder, then overcorrected, driving into the path of a northbound Jeep.

The driver and front passenger in the van were killed. Three children in the back of the van were transported to a hospital in the twin cities, two of them by air. The driver and passenger in the jeep were taken by private vehicle to the Burnett Medical Center.
