RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — A winter storm warning for this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service says a strong clipper system will bring between 3 and 7 inches, with wind gusts up to 40 mph for Barron, Burnett, Chippewa, Dunn, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix and Washburn counties.

The winter storm warning goes from 3 p.m. today through 9 a.m. Wednesday, impacting the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes with slippery and hazardous driving conditions.

If you must travel, carry emergency supplies in your vehicle such as a flashlight, food, water and warm clothing, and keep your phone charged and your gas tank at least half full.
