MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Carson Wentz has found himself in quite the full-circle moment of an up-and-down career. He’s currently the starting quarterback for the team he grew up rooting for. The Minnesota Vikings signed Wentz just three weeks ago for experience behind J.J. McCarthy. Wentz was the second pick in the 2016 draft with the Philadelphia Eagles before starting his bounce around the league in 2021. Wentz will extend the NFL record he set last year by making a start for a sixth team in a six-season span when Minnesota hosts Cincinnati. For the Bengals, Jake Browning takes over at QB for the injured Joe Burrow.

(Madison, WI) — The Badgers will try to maintain their dominance of Maryland as they open the conference schedule Saturday. Wisconsin has taken on the Terrapins four times since that program joined the Big Ten and has won all four. The showdown is being called a must-win contest because the brutal part of the schedule is about to begin. Maryland comes in with an undefeated 3-and-0 record. Wisconsin is favored by 10-and-a-half points.

After last season’s expansion, three teams were left on the sidelines at tournament time. Nebraska, Penn State, and Washington didn’t take part. The Purdue Boilermakers are the favorites to win the league this season. They are also the betting favorite to take the national title.
