Jalen Suggs added 20 points and Desmond Bane had 18 for the Magic, who won their fourth straight to remain sixth in the Eastern Conference. They are one game behind fifth-place Toronto and percentage points ahead of Miami. Bobby Portis had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Cam Thomas scored 17 for the Bucks, who beat Utah on Saturday night but have lost five of six.
DENVER (AP) — Nathan MacKinnon scored his NHL-leading 43rd goal and scored the winning goal in a shootout, lifting the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday in a matchup between two of the NHL’s top four teams in points. Scott Wedgewood, who leads the NHL in goals against average and is second in save percentage, had 32 saves on 34 Minnesota shots.
TORONTO (AP) — Kelly Pannek scored an overtime winner to lead the Minnesota Frost over the Toronto Sceptres 3-2 in the PWHL. The Frost, who played without captain Kendall Coyne Schofield, picked up their first win in their second game following the Olympic break. Minnesota was coming off a shutout loss to the Montreal Victoire. Toronto extended its point streak to four games despite the loss. Forward Taylor Heise was in on all three goals for Minnesota. Her power-play slap pass set up Pannek for the winning goal seconds after Toronto’s Renata Fast was sent off for slashing.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin women’s team has earned the second seed in the 2026 NCAA Hockey Tournament. That status was announced Sunday, the day after the Badgers were beaten in the WCHA tournament title game 2-1 by Ohio State. That showdown was scoreless until Lacey Eden scored a goal at 10:02 in the final period. The Buckeyes then came from behind with two goals in the last six minutes. Wisconsin hosts the winner of Quinnipiac or Franklin Pierce at LaBahn Arena Thursday.
(Milwaukee, WI) — Marquette put an exclamation point on a disappointing season by upsetting fourth-ranked UConn Saturday 68-62. Huskies coach Dan Hurley was ejected in the final second of that game when he protested the lack of a foul call from a scramble under the basket. Freshman Nigel James Junior led the Golden Eagles with 19 points. The Golden Eagles ended the regular season with three wins in four games. They are seeded seventh in the Big East Conference tournament and will take on Xavier Wednesday.
(West Lafayette, IN) — The Badgers set a school record with 18 3-pointers while upsetting Purdue Saturday 97-93. Coach Greg Gard’s squad took down several ranked teams this season while compiling a 22-and-9 record, including 14-and-6 in Big Ten Play. Guard John Blackwell had five 3-pointers and led the scoring with 25 points. Nick Boyd added 23 as Wisconsin played without injured senior forward Nolan Winter. The Badgers are seeded fifth in the Big Ten Conference tournament, and they will meet the winner between Washington and USC Thursday afternoon.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers have made a trade and extended the contract agreement with offensive lineman Sean Rhyan. Green Bay sent defensive tackle Colby Wooden to the Indianapolis Colts for standout linebacker Zaire Franklin. He’s expected to replace Quay Walker. Rhyan emerged as the team’s starting center during the 2025 NFL season. He signed a three-year deal worth 33 million dollars.
AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Ryan Blaney completed a Team Penske sweep at Phoenix Raceway by winning the Cup Series race on Sunday. The victory that denied Tyler Reddick a fourth consecutive win to start the NASCAR season. Blaney passed 49 cars to earn his 18th career victory and second at Phoenix. The victory came during a weekend celebration of Team Penske’s 60th season of competition and during a “desert doubleheader” that bundled IndyCar and NASCAR together at Phoenix. David Malukas won the IndyCar pole for Penske and then Josef Newgarden won Saturday’s race; Joey Logano won the pole for the Cup race and then Blaney completed the sweep.
