RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — More students will be eligible to attend Haugen Elementary.
The Rice Lake Area School District board voted April 13 to expand the attendance boundary for the school, effectively moving the southernmost demarcation line from County Highway B and 26th Avenue, farther south to 23rd Avenue and Highway 48.
For the next school year, families in this area who have young students who previously attended Hilltop or Tainter elementary schools, can now have children bussed to Haugen Elementary, or remain with their current school.
A survey is being sent out to these families. If space is available, families outside the boundary can enroll their students at Haugen Elementary if they provide their own transportation.
The school board also voted to allow the limited use of multi-age classrooms at Haugen Elementary.
