MADISON, Wis. (WJMC) — The state saw 40 wildfires burn 50 acres over the weekend that started with a Red Flag warning on Friday, but northwest Wisconsin avoided large fires.

Four small wildfires were reported in Burnett County, burning roughly 1.5 acres in total, and one small blaze was reported in Washburn County. Causes included smoking, fireworks and equipment.
Subsiding winds and Sunday’s rain has lowered the fire danger across the state.
