(Denver, CO) — A seven-run rally in the sixth inning powered the Brewers to a sweep of a weekend series in Colorado. Milwaukee trailed 3-1 before the big inning and won the game 12-4. Rookie Shane Drohan picked up his third victory. Gary Sanchez hit his first homer since early April. The Brewers maintain a five-game lead in the National League Central Division. They go on the road for a series against the Athletics starting tonight (Monday).

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Starling Marte hit a three-run homer to back six strong innings from Noah Cameron, and the Kansas City Royals held off the Minnesota Twins 6-5 to take three of four games in the series. Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. left in the seventh with right knee soreness after going 0 for 4. He struck out three times one day after driving in the go-ahead run in the ninth. Minnesota scored four times in the ninth inning Sunday, including Josh Bell’s three-run homer, before Lucas Erceg retired Brooks Lee with a runner on second for his 12th save. Marte launched his first home run in his first season with Kansas City, helping the Royals finish a 5-5 trip that started with three straight losses at Texas.
(Green Bay, WI) — The Packers need to improve in at least three areas if they are to return to the NFC championship game for the first time in seven years. Coaches hope additions like Benjamin St. Juste and Brandon Cisse remedy a problem at cornerback that cropped up late last season. The Green Bay defense also needs some help putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks while All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons rehabs his knee injury. The third and most persistent issue for the team is on special teams, and that may be the biggest problem area of all.
(New York, NY) — NBA front office personnel are looking forward to the 2026 draft later this month. The Bucks pick 10th, though that could change dramatically if the team completes a trade involving superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Scouts say the talent available in this draft goes very deep, with a dozen or more long-term, outstanding prospects. A-J Dybantsa of BYU is the consensus top pick, followed by guard Darryn Peterson of Kansas, Duke’s Cameron Boozer, and forward-center Caleb Wilson of North Carolina. The Washington Wizards have the top pick.
(Madison, WI) — Homegrown prospect Jalen Brown of Tosa West has committed to the Badgers basketball program. Evidently, head coach Greg Gard has led the pursuit of the state’s top player for about a year. Brown just completed his sixth visit to Madison recently. 247Sports reports that he is rated a top 65 prospect in the nation and chose the Badgers over programs like Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, and West Virginia.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Nelly Korda won the 81st U.S. Women’s Open for her second consecutive major victory. She held off Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez by one shot when her final 2 1/2-foot par putt curled perilously around the cup and finally dropped in. Korda’s first U.S. Open win is the fourth major victory of her career, and she claimed it with a steady 2-under 69 in the final round. But only after her last putt caught the left edge and toured half the circumference of the hole before dropping. Korda made a 9-foot birdie putt on the 17th.
DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — J.T. Poston has won the Memorial, just not the way anyone would have imagined. Poston returned Sunday morning to complete the third round and built a four-shot lead. But that was gone on the turn and it turned into a mad scramble. Poston made a 7-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a 72 to force a playoff with Ryan Gerard. He won on the second extra hole when Gerard three-putted from some 55 feet. Gerard was mistake-free most of the day until missing a 6-foot par putt. The victory gives Poston a spot in the next three majors.
BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — Denny Hamlin went from the rear to first again Sunday, winning at Michigan International Speedway to earn his second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series victory from the pole position. Just like last week’s win at Nashville Superspeedway when the Joe Gibbs Racing car was penalized for jumping the start, Hamlin qualified first at Michigan but dropped to the back at the green flag because of a penalty for unapproved adjustments to his No. 11 Toyota. He took the lead for good on a three-wide pass during a restart with 38 laps remaining, sweeping into first around Daniel Suarez and Carson Hocevar.

Rice Lake WI, June 6 – Using completely divergent paths to victory lane, both Matt Leer and Parker Anderson highlighted the racing program Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway with their second straight feature wins of the 2026 racing season. While Leer led all twenty laps of the Modified feature race, Anderson came from the fourth row and didn’t take the lead until there were just two laps remaining in the Street Stock feature event. Other winners on Saturday before the speedway takes a one week break in the action were Tyler Wahlstrom who won his first Pure Stock feature win of the season, Blake Adams in the Midwest Modifieds and Alex Myers in the Super Stocks.
Leer started on the pole for what turned out to be a nonstop twenty lap Modified feature race and from that position, as strong as he has been running this year, it was going to be hard for anyone to catch him. He did indeed take off strong and built up a fairly comfortable lead over the pack while saw Blake Adams race past Kyle Helling to take over second by the halfway point of the race with Kennedy Swan following his move into thrd.
Leer continued to lead during the second half of the race but Adams slowly began to reel in the leader, continuing to narrow down the lead as the laps began to run out in the event. Swan also stayed close as the top three margin continued to narrow.
In the last few laps, Adams moved to within a few car lengths of the leader and drove hard into the corners, trying to narrow the margin as much as possible. He was able to set up a last lap slider into turn three but Leer had enough of a lead that the move was unsuccessful and Matt drove home with about a three car length advantage for the win. Adams was followed by Swan to complete the top three.
It was heartbreak for Helling who was having by far his best run of the season, holding down a strong fourth place when he spun on the final lap and became a DNF with Lance Schilling replacing him for the fourth spot.
The Street Stock drivers may have put on their best race of the season to date on Saturday, with the top five finishers running under a blanket and jockeying for position from the drop of the green to the final checkers.
Cole Richards took the early lead but he was challenged hard by Hunter VanGilder and Bryar Zimmerman with Sam Fankhauser and Caiden Engel close behind. Also on the move were Cody Cimfl and Anderson, who had started on the outside of row four. The track was excellent for the Street Stocks and they were running side by side, several rows deep as they fought for position.
Richards still had the lead at the halfway point over VanGilder and Zimmerman with Anderson just then cracking the top five.
The first yellow of the race didn’t occur until there were twelve laps completed and then, with the further packing up of the leaders, things got just a bit wilder. Two straight yellows kept the field tight but Anderson took advantage to move up the track and his car worked excellently in the outside lane as he began his march to the front. VanGilder was challenging Richards on every corner but Anderson soon made a move to take over second and then drove around Richards to take over the lead with just two laps remaining.
The action wasn’t done quite yet however, as another packed restart saw Richards go for a spin and then, on the next attempt to finish off the race, Shawn Amundson, who had worked his way up to third, also was turned which brought out the final yellow.
Parker Anderson drove away from the pack on the final restart with Amundson making a strong challenge on the inside in the final corner but Anderson had the win. VanGilder ended up finishing third.
Travis Anderson was painfully close to getting his first Midwest Modified feature win of the season until a late yellow flag completely turned around the race and put him on the defensive as he tried to fight off the competition. Anderson had started on the outside pole and raced past Jason Vokovan to take the early lead. Anderson started to put some distance on the field as Nick Koehler and Les Duellman raced into position behind him.
Anderson continued to lead but Koehler had moved in close behind the leader and attempted several times to make a pass but each time Anderson fought him off. Blake Adams, meanwhile, had started way back in ninth but was working his way forward, making the top five by the halfway point as he followed Cody Cimfl with both moving forward.
With seventeen starters in the race and no yellow flags, the traffic became very heavy as Anderson did a great job of weaving his way past some of the slower drivers with Koehler right behind him. Adams managed to get past both Cimfl and Duellman to move into third but he was still some distance behind the two leaders when the first yellow of the race flew with just four laps to go.
What came next was crazy as the field attempted on three straight occasions to restart the race, only to see a yellow fly and negate the start. Anderson was trying to hold back both Koehler and Adams on the double file restarts but Adams got past the first time, only to have the yellow wave. Koehler then decided on the outside line and got the lead, only to have the yellow wave once again.
Adams then made the move of the race as although he restarted on the inside, he was able to get past Koehler and move to the cushion when the race finally got started and make what turned out to be the winning pass.
Adams was not in the clear quite yet however, as twice more the yellow waved with just a pair of laps to go as the spinning continued but each time he was able to hold off all challenges of Koehler to drive on for the win. Anderson, oh so close to that first win of the year, had to settle for third with Duellman and Brady Larson completing the top five. It was Adams third Midwest Modified feature win of the year at the track.
Alex Myers was seeking redemption on Saturday night. After apparently winning the Super Stock feature last Saturday night, he lost the win on a post race procedural issue and he was determined to not let that happen once again.
Eric Olson got the jump from the outside pole to lead lap one but Myers was flying on the cushion and just one lap later was able to drive past Olson and take the lead. And once in front, he was not about to be caught, leading the last eighteen laps to record his second feature win of the season. Olson was able to stay close behind but not able to attempt a pass.
The first twelve laps of the race ran off nonstop and there were only two yellows in the whole event and following the last one with just two laps to go, Olson stayed nailed to the rear bumper of Myers’ car but Alex made no mistakes and didn’t allow Eric an opportunity to pass. On the last lap Jeff Eisner got up on the cushion and was able to pass two drivers and race his way into third ahead of Leslie Leu and Ryan Olson.
The Pure Stocks completed the evening with a very good feature race, running nonstop for fifteen laps with the top five drivers running in tight formation. Mitch Kesan grabbed the lead from the outside pole with Tyler Wahlstrom and Austin Fencl close behind. Wahlstrom was particularly fast as he looked to the inside of Kesan several times but each time Kesan was able to fight him off.
Finally, with seven laps complete, Wahlstrom was able to clear Kesan and take over the top spot. Fencl, C.J. Wagner and Simon Wahlstrom were all running closely behind the lead duel.
In the later half of the race, Fencl was right on the bumper of the leader but Tyler made no mistakes and didn’t give Fencl any openings with which to pass. He was right on the bumper of Wahlstrom all the way to the finish but Tyler drove on for his first feature win of the year and his second overall, having earned his first during the 2025 racing season.
Simon Wahlstrom managed to race up to third in the late going with Kesan and Wagner next in line as the entire Pure Stock starting field completed the race.
For the first time in the history of the Rice Lake Speedway, the Legend Cars of the INEX Rolling Thunder Dirt Legends group made an appearance at the Speedway. Taking the lead on lap eleven, Davey Pennel from Sparta drove on for the win. He was followed by Baiden Heskett fom Hastings MN, Karl Genett from Rudolph, Talyn Neuman from Beaver Dam and Ryan Mech from Greenfield.
Pennel also won at Red Cedar Speedway on Friday night and for sweeping the weekend he got an extra five hundred dollar bonus, making his weekend earnings at fifteen hundred dollars.
The Rice Lake Speedway will not be racing next Saturday night, June 13th with the Aquafest ongoing. The next racing action at the track will be on Saturday night, June 20th when along with the normal five division program of WISSOTA sanctioned racing, the USRA Late Models will make their second appearance of 2026.
