(Summerlin, NV) — Brewers pitchers won’t be sorry to leave Las Vegas Ballpark. A pair of homers in the bottom of the seventh wiped out Milwaukee’s lead and made the Athletics a 4-3 winner. Losing pitcher Chad Patrick gave up the two home runs. In three games at the Triple-A ballpark, the Brewers surrendered 15 home runs and dropped two of those three contests. Milwaukee had built a 3-0 lead on homers by Jackson Chourio and Gary Sanchez before things fell apart. The team is off tonight (Thursday), then starts a weekend series at home against the Phillies Friday with Jacob Misiorowski on the mound.
DETROIT (AP) — Byron Buxton hit his 20th home run of the season, Royce Lewis also connected and the Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 6-3 on Wednesday night. The game was delayed for 1 hour, 7 minutes in the middle of the first inning due to inclement weather. Lewis opened the scoring in the second inning with the second-longest homer of his career, a 444-foot shot to left. Buxton made it 4-1 in the fifth with a three-run shot. Buxton is the third in Twins history with 20 or more homers through 69 games, joining Harmon Killebrew and Justin Morneau. Taylor Rogers (2-3) struck out two in a hitless fourth inning for the victory. Yoendrys Gómez closed out his fifth save of the year.
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Knicks made a record comeback from 29 points down and moved to the brink of their first championship since 1973 by beating the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. OG Anunoby tipped in the miss of Jalen Brunson’s long 3-point attempt with 1.2 seconds remaining to complete the rally, giving the Knicks a 3-1 series lead and three chances to win the championship. It looked impossible early, when the Spurs rolled to a 27-point halftime lead. But Brunson helped bring the Knicks back with 36 points and Anunoby finished with 33. Game 5 is Saturday night in San Antonio.

Portis has played for Milwaukee the past six years. As the team’s vocal leader, he has become a fan favorite. NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer say there is a growing expectation that the Bucks will trade Antetokounmpo before the 2026 NBA Draft, which is coming up in less than two weeks.
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers tight end Tucker Kraft is telling reporters he will play for the team in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season – with no limitations. Kraft says he is “doing better than expected” in his recovery from knee surgery last year. He was injured in the November 2nd game against Carolina. At that time, he had emerged as quarterback Jordan Love’s top target. He had 32 receptions for 489 yards and six touchdowns. Yahoo Sports quotes Kraft as saying he wants to play his entire career in Green Bay.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Christian Watson appreciated the faith the Green Bay Packers showed in him even when he believed he didn’t necessarily deserve it. Watson wants to reward the Packers by staying healthy and producing the best season of his career now that they’ve given him a lucrative contract extension. Watson says he doesn’t get caught up in numbers but adds that he definitely wants to “have double-digit touchdowns and I want to have over 1,100 yards.” Watson has never accumulated more than 41 catches or 620 yards receiving in any of his four seasons.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Brian Flores is back for a fourth season as defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings. He signed a new contract to continue his direction of what has been one of the best-performing units in the NFL since his arrival. This year presents another challenge for one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in the league. He’ll be in charge of a defense that got significantly younger. Missing from minicamp this week are four of the top 12 most-used players from last season including standout edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, veteran defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave, and stalwart safety Harrison Smith.
(Madison, WI) — The Wisconsin men’s basketball team is becoming the Rodney Dangerfield of the Big Ten. Yet another preseason poll projects the Badgers in the bottom half of the conference standings. It’s not the first time, and it has been wrong each previous time. The Big Ten Network predicts coach Greg Gard and his squad will finish 11th among the 18 teams. This follows a season where Wisconsin finished fifth with a 14-and-6 conference record, then was seeded fifth in the NCAA tournament. The two top scorers, John Blackwell and Nick Boyd, have departed, but Gard has filled out his roster with a lot of talent once again.
