MADISON, Wis. (WRN) – Wisconsin is part of a multi-state settlement against John Deere over farmer’s right to repair their own tractors and equipment.
Attorney General Josh Kaul says Deere allegedly used unlawful practices to limit how owners could repair Deere equipment.
“Farmers who needed to get equipment repaired would need to go into a dealership to do that. And that raised concerns about potential delays and cost increases. What we want to make sure is that farmers have as much ability as possible to do their own repairs or to go to an independent repair provider,” Kaul says.
Deere will be required to make repair resources available to farmers and independent providers and promote the availability of those resources.
