(Milwaukee, WI) — New York Mets rookie left-hander Zach Thornton and three relievers shut out the Brewers on four singles Tuesday night, 4-0. That ended Milwaukee’s four-game winning streak. Another rookie, Brandon Sproat, gave up two of the runs while taking his fifth defeat. Logan Henderson starts for the Brewers this afternoon (Wednesday) in the rubber game of the three-game set.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Austin Hedges and Petey Halpin hit sacrifice flies in the sixth inning as the Cleveland Guardians, a night after hitting seven homers, used small ball to beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 on Tuesday for a third straight victory. Cleveland starter Parker Messick allowed two runs — one earned — on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter before leaving with a runner on second. Colin Holderman (5-2) got the final out in the inning to qualify for the win. Cade Smith closed it out in the ninth for his 29th save — tops in the majors.
(Las Vegas, NV) — The Bucks lost three out of five games in the just-completed NBA Summer League, but the lineup featured one standout. Rookie Brayden Burries was named to the All-Summer League First Team. Burries was the 10th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He hit more than half of his shots and scored more than 20 points in three of the four games he played. It was Burries’ layup with one-and-a-half seconds left that gave Milwaukee a 96-94 win over Philadelphia Sunday in its final game of the summer.
(Green Bay, WI) — Packers quarterback Jordan Love has shown the ability to perform in pressure-packed situations. Preview stories focused on the 2026 NFL season aren’t giving him a lot of credit, but the numbers do. Dairyland Express reports that Love finished second among all quarterbacks in EPA – that’s expected points added. He was effective when dropping back to pass in the second half with his team trailing.
(Madison, WI) — Head coach Luke Fickell and his staff have brought 33 players to Madison through the transfer portal. That’s the largest number since he became coach of the Badgers. The problem has been that many of the transfers in the past haven’t performed when they took the field at Camp Randall Stadium. At least a half-dozen of them are being counted on as starters for this fall. The previous year Wisconsin signed 22 transfers and only edge rusher Mason Reiger and tight end Lance Mason had much impact.
