CLEVELAND (AP) — Trevor Larnach and Luke Keaschall both delivered two-out RBI singles in the 12th inning, giving the Minnesota Twins a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians and a split of their four-game series. Larnach and Keaschall grounded their singles to left off Erik Sabrowski as the Twins took the finale after being shut out for the first seven innings. Cleveland starter Gavin Williams struck out 11 and was poised for his 11th win before the Twins rallied in the eighth. Taylor Rogers worked out of a jam in the 11th to get the win. Minnesota starter Taj Bradley and five relievers combined on a three-hitter.
(Green Bay, WI) — The latest update on All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons suggests he won’t be back until late September or early October. Parsons had surgery December 29th and that procedure includes an expected nine-month recovery time. Lombardi Avenue-dot-com reports that he’s going to miss at least eight weeks of the 2026 NFL season. It might be more. This is significant because the Packers were winless without Parsons last season.
(Madison, WI) — Wisconsin football coach Luke Fickell still carries a lot of national respect despite a disappointing start to his time in Madison. The Badgers are 17-and-21 in Fickell’s first three years. That’s why his ranking in a list by The Sporting News is surprisingly. Fickell comes in at number 37. That’s a short fall from last year’s 29th place ranking, but still has him among the top 50 college coaches nationwide. A big class arriving through the transfer portal carries hopes of a return to the good times at Camp Randall Stadium.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota coach Niko Medved has received a one-year contract extension with a slight raise after a promising first season at his alma mater. The university board of regents approved the contract amendment this week at its regular monthly meeting to give Medved a $100,000 pay bump on top of the $100,000 annual increase in his initial six-year deal. Medved is now signed through the 2031-32 season. He will make $3.2 million in 2026-27. That ranks 17th out of 18 head coaches in the Big Ten. The Gophers went 15-18 overall and 8-12 in Big Ten play in Medved’s first year.
(Milwaukee, WI) — The Bucks currently have too many guards on the roster, but reports from the NBA have the team actively trying to trade a pair of veteran frontcourt players. Basket News-dot-com reports Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma are on the market. Kuzma has one year left on his deal and a 20-million-dollar salary. Turner just signed a contract extension after his arrival last year. It includes a trade kicker, meaning added expense for the team picking him up.
