MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Keep a sharp eye out for safety when you’re out perusing garage sales this summer.
Wisconsin Consumer Protection Director Mike Domke says some of those items you’re considering buying might be under a recall and it’s up to you to check.
“A retailer, they’re required to pull recalls off the shelf until that’s remedied. And if it’s not, then they need to stay off the shelf. But when we go to garage sales, that doesn’t happen,” Domke said.
Domke says a simple search on your phone should turn up any hazards associated with something you’re buying.
