CHETEK, Wis. (WJMC) — One of Chetek’s Bravest will be honored today, with one last ride on a fire truck through the city.

Chetek resident Debra Jacobs passed away on April 9.

Since May 1998, she has been an active firefighter for the Chetek Fire Department, serving nearly 27 years. Fire Chief Ryan Olson said Jacobs was a proud member of the department, and the community.

“She helped out a ton with all of our fundraising stuff. She was a huge part of that. She absolutely loved being here and she liked the department,” Olson said. “She would help out anyone in the community. She would help out with anything she could. She had a lot of friends around here.”

A fire truck procession for Jacobs will happen Friday at 12:30 p.m. It starts at the Chetek Fire Hall, goes east on Dallas Street, south on Second Street, and east on Douglas Street, to Red’s Bar and Grill where a celebration of life will be held from 1 until 4 p.m.
