MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — At the Capitol, healthcare providers express support for legislation from Democratic lawmakers establishing a statutory right to abortion in Wisconsin.

Ashlyn Brown is a doctor at the UW – Department of Family Medicine and Community Health:

“Because anti-abortion politicians are obsessed with treating abortion care differently than any other part of the broad spectrum of care that I provide, bans and restrictions make it harder for me to provide this life saving care and make it harder for patients to get the care that they need in a timely fashion and in their local communities,” Brown said.

The Abortion Rights Restoration Act would remove the state’s 1849 abortion ban, abortion medications restrictions, and abortion coverage bans. It’s unlikely to advance in the Republican controlled legislature.
