MADISON, Wis (WRN) — Democratic lawmakers want to make higher education more affordable for Wisconsin students.
Appleton state Senator Kristin Dassler-Alfheim says the Wisconsin Tuition Promise Bill covers the remaining cost of tuition once federal aid and scholarships have been applied for students coming from households that make $71,000 or less.
“A promise to both middle class families and Wisconsin employers that the gap financing between tuition federal grants and scholarships will not stand in the way of their success in joining the workforce and advancing themselves personally,” Dassler-Alfheim said.
Both bills are unlikely to advance in the Republican controlled Legislature.
