MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Democrats in the Wisconsin Legislature want a pause on new data center projects.

During a Thursday press conference, Milwaukee Senator Chris Larson says concerns are bipartisan.

“There’s a recall of a mayor in Port Washington that is hugely bipartisan. The concerns that are rising up around this are across the partisan spectrum and I think are divorced completely from the party politics,” Larson said.

“We encourage our colleagues to have a conversation about every single piece of legislation addressing this issue as soon as possible so that we can do right by all Wisconsinites,” said Milwaukee state Representative Darren Madison.

Utility rates and power generation, non-disclosure agreements and government subsidies for AI are among issues Democrats argue need resolution now.
