MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Democratic lawmakers want to address hospital staffing issues with new legislation.
“This bill will establish appropriate and safe patient ratios for every nurse and patient in Wisconsin hospitals. This bill will guarantee frontline staff, nurses, and non-nurses have a say in how they staff in every Wisconsin hospital.” said Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals President Connie Smith.
The bill would also establish new fair labor practices including banning mandatory overtime and limiting shift lengths to 12 hours. With the legislative session almost over the bill is unlikely to advance.
