MILLTOWN, Wis. (WJMC) — A driver is dead from a chain-reaction crash caused by wildlife crossing the road.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Friday, on Highway 35, just south of Milltown. Northbound traffic slowed for wildlife crossing the road when a northbound pickup swerved to avoid rear-ending the slowing traffic. The pickup had a glancing strike with one vehicle, which caused it to collide head-on with a southbound SUV.
The SUV driver died at the scene. The pickup driver had nonlifethreatening injuries and the rear-ended vehicle driver had minor injuries.
The name of the deceased victim will be released at a later time. No other names were released.
