Communiversity Band concert

A spring concert by the Communiversity Band will be held at UW-Eau Claire — Barron County on Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the UWEC-BC Fine Arts Theatre, 1800 College Drive, Rice Lake.

The Communiversity Band, a 50+ member ensemble, is a joint effort of the UW-Eau Claire — Barron County Music Department and adult musicians of the region. The ensemble has been under the direction of Michael Joosten since 2001.

Selections to be performed include Excelsior Overture composed by Heidi Joosten, originally of Cameron; Dusk by Steven Bryant; Bassoon Concerto by Carl Maria Von Weber; Bayou Breakdown by Brant Karrick; American Salute by Morton Gould; and Italian Rhapsody by Julie Giroux. Bassoon soloist is Iris Hakes of Chippewa Falls.

Admission is a free-will donation in support of the music department.

A second performance is scheduled on Tuesday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Haas Fine Arts (Gantner Hall) at UW-Eau Claire. Adult admission is $7.50; seniors and youth 12-17 are $5.50; under 12 are free.
