Tony Evers is laying out his agenda for 2026, and much of it centers on things the Democratic governor couldn’t get included in the state budget.
Evers, who’s not running for reelection, spoke with reporters at the Capitol on Monday. He was asked about his legacy.
“We have a year left and it, you know, it’s not all about me. All the things that need to be addressed, many of them can be. And so I feel very strongly that what the legacy is just doing the right thing for people in Wisconsin,” Evers said.
Among other things, Evers will urge lawmakers to provide property tax relief and prevent property tax increases for homeowners, lower out of pocket health care costs for seniors and families, support farmers and veterans and ensure access to clean drinking water. It’s an ambitious agenda with only a few weeks remaining in the legislative session.
