MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — It’s time to start gathering everything you need to file your 2025 taxes.

IRS spokesman Christopher Miller says for most people, that’s just a few forms.

“So you’ll want to have your W-2’s from work. But also your 1099 from your bank or broker for interest or dividends you may have earned,” Miller said. “That includes income from unemployment, digital assets, and even part time or gig economy work. Unless it’s specifically excluded by law, you need to include all those things in income.”

That includes any 1099s from work as a contractor, proof that you’ve had health insurance in 2025, and documents you may need to claim tax credits or deductions. You can find out more online at IRS.gov.
