MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ decision to eliminate the Administration For Community Living could have wide ranging impacts on Wisconsin’s aging population and people with disabilities.

Beth Swedeen is the director of the Board for People with Developmental Disabilities:

“Almost every person will eventually be touched by an aging or disability program. So having a robust network that’s working to keep you where you want to be in your home, in your community, out of a facility is just the right thing to do. It makes sense for people and it costs the least amount of money.”

Swedeen says the HHS decision is a step backward to supporting the work Wisconsin organizations do to help older adults and people with disabilities.
