WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRN) — Ron Johnson says Democratic rhetoric is to blame for deaths during immigration actions in Minnesota.
During an appearance Tuesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Wisconsin’s Republican U.S. Senator said that Democrats “got their martyrs” when immigration officers shot and killed U.S. citizens Alex Pretti and Renee Good in separate incidents in Minneapolis last month. Johnson said “Democrats are trying to neuter ICE’s ability to enforce” immigration laws, adding that the deaths of Pretti and Good were a result of Democratic rhetoric.
Johnson said “it’s sick” that elected officials have encouraged their supporters and “trained activists” to put themselves into harm’s way to impede and obstruct legal law enforcement actions.
