WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRN) — Wisconsin’s Republican U.S. Senator plans to donate his salary during the shutdown to The Joseph Project, a faith-based charity he helped found.

Ron Johnson announced that during a telephone town hall on Monday

“I’m not saying that they’re actually rooting for this, but every day that goes by the Joseph Project is going to get a little bit bigger check, I guess, compliments of Chuck Schumer for his shutdown, but that’s what I’m gonna do with my paycheck this time. I’ll just write a donation when it all said and done to the Joseph Project,” said Johnson.

Johnson also predicted that Senate Democrats “will come to their senses” and vote for the “clean” House Continuing Resolution that extends government funding until November 21.
