MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Keep safety in mind if you’re letting your kids help with any spring cleaning.

UW – Health pediatrician Dr. Megan Yanny says:

“What kind of spring cleaning supplies do I have in my home? What kind of chemicals? The big things are out of sight, out of reach, up high. So really out of reach, out of sight for kids so they really can’t get into them. Cabinet locks if they are on lower cabinets, and just keeping them really out of reach of kids,” Yanny said.

Yanny says symptoms of getting into a chemical or cleaner could be drooling, trouble swallowing, wheezing, or skin irritation.
