RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — The third “No Kings” peaceful protest in Rice Lake will include two marches.
Local volunteer organizer Mark Sherman said the protest will run from 11 a.m. until noon, along Main Street from the dam to Sawyer Street.
Two short marches will be held from noon to 1 p.m. One will follow Allen Street from Main Street to Wisconsin Avenue, and back. The second, shorter route, will follow the footpath and foot bridge around the Rice Lake dam.
Three information stations will be set up for attendees to get maps, signs and reminders to remain off of private property and follow traffic laws.
The event says it’s about Americans’ right to govern themselves with no kings, no strongmen, no exceptions.
Sherman, spoke about why he is involved in the protest. “For me, it’s about the Constitution. When I volunteered for the Army, I was 18, and I took a solemn oath to defend the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic. And I still honor that oath, and I will till the day I die,” Sherman said.
After the protest and marches, Sherman said people are encouraged to stay downtown and patronize local small businesses and restaurants.
