An aggravated robbery suspect from Minnesota was arrested with the help of a K9 in St. Croix Falls on Monday evening.
Polk County Sheriff Brent Waak said his department was on the lookout for 47-year-old Saengdara Somkhouan and officers spotted him driving on Highway 35, entering St. Croix Falls late Monday evening.
Somkhouan attempted to flee and officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle, sending it into the ditch. The suspect refused to exit and was said to be armed, so Polk County’s K9 Bane was deployed and Somkhouan was taken into custody. A loaded handgun was recovered from his vehicle.
He was treated for minor injuries and booked in the Polk County Jail on charges of fleeing an officer, resisting arrest and felon in possession of a firearm.
